Two-dimensional chromatography (2D Chromatography)

Arkema Analytical Solutions offers two-dimensional chromatography, a powerful tool for characterizing complex polymeric systems such as blends and copolymers.

The technique combines liquid adsorption chromatography (LAC) with size exclusion chromatography (SEC) to provide a complete composition and molecular weight 'fingerprint' of a polymer. In the first LAC step, separation occurs because of adsorptive interactions between the polymer and stationary phase. Fractions collected during the first step are automatically transferred into the second SEC system, where fractions are separated based on the size of the polymer coils in solution.

  • Deformulation of complex polymeric systems by composition and molecular weight
